The 2X4s Square Dance Club is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote the pleasure, recreation, and relaxation provided by square and round dancing among members and qualified guests.  This club dances at the Plus Level during the school year, and at the Mainstream Level (with one Plus tip) during the summer season.  The organization also acquaints the general public with square dancing basics for the purpose of acquiring new members.  Our lessons are held on Tuesday evening.  Contact one of the officers listed below for more information.  Our regular dances are held from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on the second, fourth and fifth Fridays of the month, except where noted.

Dance Locations

Our dances are held in two different locations,  depending on the season.

During the school year, we dance at Shue-Medill Middle School, 1500 Capitol Trail (Rt. 2), Newark, Delaware; near the intersection of the Kirkwood Highway and Red Mill/Pollydrumond HillRoad.  From  I 95 south, take exit 3 toward Newark.  At the Shell Gas Station, turn right at the traffic light onto Harmony Road.  Follow Harmony Rd until it ends at Rt. 2, Kirkwood Highway.  Turn left onto Rt. 2 and stay in the left lane.  Turn left at the next traffic light onto Brewster Dr.  The school driveway is the first right about 1/2 block.  Make the right turn into the driveway and continue past the dumpster to the parking area.     Note: If the schools are closed for any reason (such as bad weather), then the regularly scheduled dances are cancelled!  Call one of our officers if you are uncertain of the cancellation.  Square-dance attire is encouraged but not required at our winter season dances.

During the summer season we dance at Ebenezer Methodist Church, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, Delaware.  This hall is air-conditioned, and square-dance attire is optional.  From I 95 south, take exit 3 (RT. 273) toward Newark.  At the Shell Gas Station, turn right at the traffic light onto Harmony Road.  Follow Harmony Rd until it ends at Rt. 2, Kirkwood Highway.  Turn left onto Rt. 2 and stay in the right lane.  Turn right at the second traffic light onto Polly Drummond Hill Rd.  Proceed on Polly Drummond Hill Rd. for 2.6 miles.  Ebenezer Church will be on the left, on top of a hill.  The sign and the Church are very visible from the road
