The Colorado Rocky Mountain Dancers

The Colorado Rocky Mountain Dancers is a performance group providing entertainment, exhibitions and demonstrations of American folk dances from the Square Dance family. Since 1999 the group consisting of young people from the Denver metropolitan area has performed at community dances, annual State Conventions, annual National Square Dance Convention and a variety of heritage, folk and community music and dance locations and events.

Each show is a high energy dance demonstration which features square dances, contra dances, round dances, circle dances and other square formations which show the best of our American Folk dance heritage. The square dances include figures that almost everyone has heard of such as "Allemande left" and "Do-Sa-Do" to more complicated and showy figures such as a "Flying Weather Vane" and "California Showbasket". The rounds are pre-choreographed couple dances that set ballroom steps to great music.

The square dances are performed in the style of the Cheyenne Mountain Dancers, Calico & Boots and Aggie Haylofter performance groups. These groups provide a rich heritage of dance style and choreography suited to the youthful energy and enthusiasm of the group.

>> The Cheyenne Mountain Dancers was a troupe of high school students from Colorado Springs, who toured the United States in the 1930's and 1940's.

>> Calico & Boots started as a college club at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO and continues today as a recreational and performance group keeping the traditions of the Cheyenne Mountain Dancers alive while entertaining audiences worldwide.

>> The Aggie Haylofters also started in the 1940's as a recreational and performance dance group at Colorado State University.

The Rocky Mountain Dancers are prepared to provide a show to entertain any audience. The dancers will provide both and elegant and daring performance that will excite and thrill everyone.
