What is Bee Sharps Square Dance Club?

Bee Sharps Square Dance Club was started in 1974 in Somerville, NJ. The club welcomes both couples and singles. Bee Sharps square dance at the plus level. The club meets on the second and fourth Friday evenings at Bound Brook United Methodist Church. We begin with round dancing at 7:30 pm followed by square dancing from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm. Please come and dance with us!

Why should I square dance?

It's SOCIAL!

Square dancers meet other dancers from their own community, other cities, other states, and even other countries! All the calls are the same no matter which country you visit!

It's HEALTHY!

Square dancers walk an average of 5 miles during a two hour dance. What a great way to get exercise without really trying!

It's CHALLENGING!

Square dancers learn to execute many calls which can be given in any order. Dancers can progress through the difficulty levels: basic, mainstream, plus, advanced and challenge. Most dancers dance at the Plus level. Bee-Sharps is a Plus Level club.

It's FUN!

Each square dance caller has a unique style. Square dancers add their own special moves and sound effects to make the dancing more exciting. Square dancing is the only place where you can give someone else's partner a great big YELLOW ROCK (bear hug)!!!
