Contents of CASDA's Page What dances should be listed herein? Some (people) think (?) that only clubs and other associations paying CASDA dues should be mentioned in these pages and in the Chatter, a CASDA publication, to promote their dances, festivals and specials. To date no one has paid anything to get into this web page. Fact is I have to fight to find stuff to put in it. Dancers like to get out to different clubs and special dances now and then to dance to different callers and/or cuers. Last I knew this was officially encouraged. New dancers are told to visit other clubs and dance to different callers. In that vain you will find dances for many clubs, associations, states, etc... listed herein. Keep those feet on the dance floor, any dance floor! Steve Saunders Professor Alexander Fraser Tyler, writing when the states were still colonies of Great Britain, explained why democracies always fail; “A Democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of Government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess of the public treasury. Allemande Hall is NOT for sale; but some others are of a different mind. Allemande Hall just had another Certificate Holders meeting. Not as many people showed up for this meeting as the one they had when the topic of giving the Board permission to consider an offer for the purchase of the Hall should such an offer materialize. To date we do not have one, so there is no consideration to consider at this point. Be a friend to money ~ not a slave. Money is not, in my opinion, Allemande Hall's problem. A number of people are focused on money and do not realize it is only a symptom of the problem and not the problem itself. Allemande Hall was founded by Square Dancers for dancers, square, round, lines and today we have ballroom. When dancers attend dances at the Hall they pay to get in ~ source of money. When fewer people attend dances we have less income (money). The problem is not money, it is dancers, or rather the lack of dancers. How do we get more dancers to the Hall? Got any ideas? Attend East Ridge Grand Squares some time. They are do very well getting people on the floor. They have good size classes. The do not get all class members to join their club but they are do well. What are they doing different?
Dalton Carpet Squares of Dalton, GA are no longer a club. They could not get a square up some evenings. I will miss the feeds they used to put on at Thanksgiving time. I hope the ones that wish to continue to dance find another club to attend. |
