How do I look at the entire calendar? This is useful for viewing the entire calendar and is often a good thing to do to see if your event is already on the calendar. If it is, don't add it again!
How do I view only a part of the calendar? A neat option to let you search for events in whatever way you want - by State (say you just want to see events for CA), for instance, or by Event Category (perhaps you just want to look for National Conventions or Callers' Schools), or even by Caller or Cuer (a keyword search using the caller/cuer last name can be useful here, because it searches all fields & would find those instances where the caller/cuer's name is listed in the event description).
How do I add events to the calendar? Useful for adding your own special dances, lessons, conventions/festivals, callers' colleges, meetings, etc.
How do I modify events I've already added? Useful if you later need to change some portion of your event record. Also useful if you accidentally added a record before it was complete, perhaps by accidentally hitting the [Enter] key.
How do I delete events previously added? You can do this, but won't usually need to, since we at SquareDancing.com automatically delete all events once they have happened! If you accidentally add a record more than once, you can use this procedure to delete one of them.
Why does my event get added more than once, resulting in duplicate entries?! Answer: Usually this happens when you are adding an event and accidentally hit the [Enter] key when moving from one field to the next. This adds the record to the database. Then, if you hit the "Back" button in your browser, complete & add the record, it ends up in the database twice - or more! If this happens to you, just use the delete procedure. What dates should I use when adding lessons to the calendar? Answer: Use the first night of the lessons as the "Start Date". The "End Date" is up to you, but it might make since to use the last night for admitting new students to your lessons. That way, we won't delete your lessons from the calendar until the "End Date" is passed and you are no longer taking new students. |
