Hoodoo Valley Hoedowners Board Meeting Minutes
April 7, 2010
Meeting called to order at 7:15 P.M. at the Goodman home by Guy Hulquist. Board members present: President Guy Hulquist, 1st Vice President Randee Pound, Secretary Rosanne Decker, Treasurer Penny Goodman, Activities Randee Pound, and Refreshments Annie & Jess Halstead. Board members absent: 2nd Vice President Dustin Stringfellow, Publicity Jan Hewitt, and Area One Rep – Vacant. Other member present: Larry Decker. Minutes of the March meeting were read and approved.
Officers’ Reports
President: The St. Patrick’s Dance held at the Edgemere Grange was well attended with Frank Allen calling and Justine Brown cueing. Lessons in phase II & III are continuing, whereas we are now having plus lessons instead of mainstream lessons. Our next HVH dance is 4-17-2010, Fun in the 50s at the Jewel Lake Barn, Phase III Rounds 7:00 P.M., Plus 7:30 P.M., Mainstream 8:00-10:00 P.M. with David Hinds calling and Theresa Nichols cueing. Election of officers for the next square dance season will be held at our annual meeting on May 15th at the Jewel Lake Barn. Potluck starts at 5 P.M. with meeting to follow. Please consider attending as all offices are open, and the current Board will certainly welcome your consideration. If any of you have the desire to fill any position please let any officer on the board know. After the meeting, the Spring Fling and Maypole Dance on 5-15-2010 will feature Adam Christman calling and Lorrie Lane cueing. Phase III Rounds 7:00 P.M., Plus 7:30 P.M., Mainstream 8:00-10:00 P.M. We will need helpers to set up and tear down the Maypoles for that dance. See you all dancing.
1st Vice President: Randee has mailed most of the contracts out and is waiting for them to come back signed.
2nd Vice President: Absent. Twenty-one plus students are taking lessons.
Secretary: Rosanne reviewed e-mail she received and sent since the last board meeting. E-mail sent to members: travel Dance March 13th; today round dance lessons only/no plus lessons; correction – round lessons are on for this Sunday, March 28th;; Inspirational Award 2009, Speech by Guy Hulquist for Penny Goodman; corrected 2-10-2010 HVH board meeting minutes; 3-10-2010 HVH board meeting minutes; travel dance 4-3-2010; 4-3-2010 HVH membership list (print from attachment); ID State Festival registration (note the newsletters have listed different dates than the Tattler and Newsletter); 2010 Festival Newsletter #10 (April) –festival dates should list June 11-12th, not 12-13th; membership list corrections—please read; Fun in the 50s dance flyer. Rosanne updated the phone tree list to include the graduates.
Treasurer: Penny Goodman reported on the finances.
Publicity: Absent. Jan forwarded the winner of the 2009 Inspirational Award speech by Guy Hulquist for Penny Goodman to the newspapers along with pictures.

Upcoming April travel dance: Circle N’ Swing, Sunday, 4-11-10, Adam Christman caller and Lorrie Lane cuer at the Sandpoint Community Hall, 2:00-4:00 P.M. Theme: Silent Auction. Upcoming May travel dances: Coeurly Q’s, Saturday, 5-1-2010, Jack Blood caller and Justine Brown cuer at the Harding Family Center, 411 N. 15th St., Coeur d’Alene, Plus 7:30 P.M., Rounds 8 P.M., Mainstream 8:30-10:30 P.M. Theme: 50th Anniversary Dance.
Refreshments: Thank you Jan & Larry Hewitt and Sherie Clipson for hosting the St. Patrick’s Dance. Annie & Jess Halstead could not be at the dance, but that didn’t stop club members and guests from helping where help was needed. Thank you so much everyone.
Area One Rep: Vacant.
Jamboree: One couple has pre-registered for the Jewel Lake Jamboree for July 9-11th at the Jewel Lake Barn. Dave Cassel posted Jonathan Wood’s bio on the HVH website. The 21st Annual Jewel Lake Jamboree with Jonathan Wood as the featured caller and Theresa Nichols, cuer, is fast approaching. If you pre-register by 5-10-2010 you can receive a considerable discount. The weekend package prices include all dances & workshops, Sunday breakfast, and dangle (not BBQ dinner). If you pre-register by May 10th, your cost for each adult will be $18.00. After the 10th, each adult cost will be $27.00. Please pick up a registration form or print one from the HVH website as the Treasurer wants one filled out for every individual attending the Jamboree.

New Business: Notice of Annual Meeting of the members of Hoodoo Valley Hoedowners, Inc. to be held at the Jewel Lake Barn on May 15, 2010. Time: 5:00 P.M. Potluck & Annual Meeting; 7:00 P.M. Phase III Rounds, 7:30 P.M. Plus, 8:00-10:00 P.M. Mainstream. Election of officers for 2010-2011 will take place at the meeting. Board Members elected for office start September 1, 2010. If anybody is interested in any office please step forward to let us know. Every office is open. If you are interested in running for a position please contact Guy Hulquist at 263-4222.
