The Federation is:
- An organization formed by the square and round dance clubs of the state.
- A combined effort by all the clubs to prepare for the future growth of square and round dancing.
The Purpose of the Federation is:
- To expand communication among the clubs.
- To help coordinate and further the development of all clubs, callers, cuers and area associations, providing continuity and balance to this growing activity, square and round dancing.
- To improve the standard of calling, cueing, and dancing in Idaho.
- To find ways of improving relationships among dancers, callers, cuers and area associations.
- To foster respect and trust among all areas of the state by providing a common meeting ground.
- A share in the responsibility and expense of putting on the State Square Dance Convention each year.
- An opportunity to bring recognized national callers and cuers into Idaho.
- The "Ida-Fed Tattler", the state news magazine for all dancers, now published on-line.
- The Rounds of the Month, chosen by each area in turn, thereby giving round dancers an opportunity to dance comfortably in all areas of the state.
- Leadership training in publicity, club operation, calling and round dancing.
- A directory of clubs, officers, locations and the nights each dance.
- An opportunity for all dancers to comment on our activity.
- Your views at any time, especially when the state board meets in your area.
- Your support of the state festival and other programs by your attendance and comments.
- Tell clubs or area associations what they may or may not do.
- Tell clubs or area assoiations how to run their activities.
- Tell callers or cuers what or how they should call or teach
