Locomotions

The Locomotions hopes everyone had a wonderful summer! Locomotions members

had a ball at our annual potluck picnic at Vivian and Lovell Gunsell's home. Everyone

enjoyed dancing (both in garage and in the lake!), lots of delicious food, and wonderful

fellowship.

Some members attended various conventions this summer, as well as square dance

campouts, so there will be lots of stories to share this fall. We are certainly looking

forward to seeing our dancing friends as the new season begins!

We'll be dancing the second and fourth Fridays in September, at the Robert Kerr

Elementary School, 9591 E. Monroe St., Durand (7:00 - 10:00 p.m.). Beth Davis will be

cueing half hour of rounds from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. Jim Davis begins squares at 7:30, with

alternating squares and rounds throughout the evening. Dancing is "plus" with

"mainstream" tips.

We kick off our dancing season on Friday, Sept. 12, at our "SQUARE 'EM UP" Dance. We

need YOU in order to make our squares complete and get us off to a swinging good

start!

Our "FALL FROLIC" Dance is Friday, Sept. 26. Come join the harvest celebration.

Jim Davis teaches square dance classes year-round at the Swartz Creek Area Senior

Center, 8095 Civic Drive, Swartz Creek every Monday evening from 6:00 to 9:00.

Everyone is welcome! Sometimes the program leans toward the basic level and

sometimes it leans toward the plus DBD level - depending on the dancers who attend

each evening. Also, he is now offering round dance lessons at the Senior Center at

5:00, preceding the squares. Dress is casual A good time is had by all. Everyone is

invited - new dancers, rusty dancers, and/or more experienced dancers. You'll fit right in.

Classes are free, and it is not necessary to be a senior citizen to participate.

Hope to see you in Durand or Swartz Creek this September!
