BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SOUTH CENTRAL DISTRICT

In the Spring of 1950, a meeting was held at the Hovako Hotel in Hobart and the decision was made to divide the Southwest District.  On May 26, 1950, a meeting was held at the Lost Bridge Skating Rink in Lawton and the South Central District (SCD) was organized.  The first elected President was Dr. Fred and Genevieve Fox of Lawton.

There were seven charter member clubs:  Allemande Dee, Boots & Bustle, Buttons & Bows, Country Club Squares, Hook & Whirl, and Wagon Wheel, all in Lawton, and Hoe Down, in Duncan.  Colors selected for the SCD were royal blue and white badges and a royal blue banner.

On August 11, 1950, dues were paid to the State Federation and the South Central Distrist was born.
